About Us

Our challenge/opportunity is:

To convert acquaintances into customers and customers into friends.

This may sound like just another cute business adage but we actually believe it and live it.  You can't win over and retain customers, as long-term friends, by being anything less than highly reliable, completely fair and honest, and genuinely interested in their service needs and requirements.  This is more than our mission: it is our nature, our livelihood, our vocation.

BFS NETWORK, LLC

It really is that simple.  But, simple does not mean easy, or simple-minded.  Blocking and tackling are rather simple concepts but doing these two things well - consistently - wins a lot more football games than trick plays.

It really is the fundamentals that matter most.  And, we know that serving your interests, proactively and effectively, is fundamental to our success.

Founding Principles

Ned Blackmon (1931-2009), my father, founded Blackmon Warehouse Systems in 1972.  Over the next four decades, he became an iconic figure in the trucking and warehousing business in Charleston.

To say that he was unorthodox would be an understatement.  While competitors were donning suits and doing their best to woo customers with 'salesmanship', my Dad, who regularly and unabashedhly wore a mechanic's jump suit, stayed busy moving their freight.  (My father was totally color-blind, in every since of the word --- and was actually far more dangerous, fashion-wise, without the jump suit.)

But Ned Blackmon didn't give a rip about cosmetics.  What he cared about, what he loved, was the freight business and the people he served and helped: his staff, the truck drivers, his customers and even competitors - whom he frequently assisted out of one jam or another.

You can't work for a man like that and not have it rub off.  I worked for him and was raised by him... so my love of this industry is genetically imprinted. - Dave Blackmon
