Case Studies
Out-of-Gauge and Over-Weight Cargo (and other shipments requiring Special Handling and/or Road Equipment) can be very problematic and costly to set up for Inland Delivery. BFS utilizes a well-evolved skill set and proven checklist-disciplines to comprehensively and proactively manage Project Cargo events -- controlling the timetable and costs.
Here are just a few recent examples:
With 'boots on the ground' waiting to install to this piece of equipment in the Magic Kingdom immediately upon its arrival, BFS was contacted (as prior carrier realized late in the game that they could not handle the dims or move the cargo off port atop a 40' Flat-Rack). We were able to arrange same-day pick-up atop a Stretch Low-Boy to move cargo off-port for prompt trans-loading to an Air Ride Step-Deck trailer for express delivery to Orlando. The cargo arrived next day, as scheduled.
BFS partnered with a regular customer/Freight Forwarder to help expedite this cargo for overnight delivery from Charleston to Nashville, TN. The customer in Nashville had a crew standing by -- costing significant dollars and managerial resources -- for every day/hour cargo went undelivered. BFS was engaged on a Monday morning. Cargo was not released and available for pick-up until after 2PM. By 4PM, we had all 5 containers off the port. By 7PM that same day, all of the road trailers were loaded and the cargo was rolling on Air Ride Vans and 'Roll Tarp' Step-Decks to customer. All trucks arrived early for their staggered Delivery Appointments the next morning.
Customer needed this heavy, over-dimensional machine delivered at 6:00 AM sharp on a Friday for a pre-scheduled crane event at the Toyota plant in Princeton, IN. We arranged for this 8-Axle rig (and another standard Step-Deck with smaller/lighter O.D. cargo) to arrive the prior day on Thursday and lay over (since these 'permit' loads could only move during daylight hours). Both trucks arrived Thursday and were there waiting when all 'the boots on the ground' showed up Friday morning.
Customer needed date-specific delivery of three truckloads of break-bulk cargo: 2 shipments on standard Step-Decks and the 'Super-Load' pictured below --requiring an 18-Axle Rig. To meet the critical Delivery Date of December 16, 2014 -- we loaded this special rig a week prior on December 9th and loaded the two Step-Decks the day prior on December 15th. All three trucks were on site, as planned and required, on the morning of December 16th.
